Air filter/induction kit.

    I've been looking around this site and also ebay at air filters for the VTR.

    I've been wondering, is there much of a difference between a bigger air filter, and the induction kit that goes to the front gril?

    I'm talking about BHP gain, sound (louder is better ) and also throttle response.

    Cheers,
    Tom.

    im not brillient with these sort of things but its defiently to better to hav a cold air feed from the front grill as cold air is dense with oxygen and therefore will burn better and possibl giv a few extra horses

    Loud = Open cone, Pipercross foam are probably the loudest

    BHP = Standard system with a panel filter and extra ducting but this makes no noise. Could also get a ProComp but there £300+

    Compramise = Raceland off Kam Racing for £85 or a K&N Gen2 for £160

    well tbh, i was only really interested in the noise, so im thinking just open cone, but wont that actually decrease performance? Because then it'll be taking in the hot air from unter the hood?

    Get a open cone, with a heatshield and leave the standard filter intake to direct air at it, and you shouldnt lose anything imo

    Hmmm.. ..very clever! I didnt think of leaving the intake. I had bonnet grill running through my mind! Good plan! Cheers man

    No problem, its what i have done and the noise is awsome and it seems to rev more freely. Definetly hasn't lost any power that's for sure

    Where did you get the cone from? I don't want to splash out too much...

    I would reccomend you get a pipercross foam filter, not the K&N if you want the loudest. Also look for one in a little better condition if you can

    If you want noise then drill the standard airbox underneath and fit a k&n or Green panel filter and try improve the standard cold airfeed. Best of both worlds imo. More holes louder it will be.

    I don't completely understand this. Do you mean have a pipe out of the current one with a cone on the end, but leave the induction kit in place!?

    No, a panel filter is like the standard one that goes inside the normal black airbox, only it breathes a lot better. He means put on of them in, and drill holes in the standard airbox

    Hmmm, think I'll stick to the cone. Seems easier
