What Mods can I give my VTR that look ACE - but wont break the bank?

  1. #1
Ive had my VTR (Mk 1) for 6 months now... Tried to modify it, but am on a REALLY tight budget..

Heres what Ive got so far... ( Will try and get some photos on here soon )

Black Rear Lexus Lights ( My VTR is Black, so I think they look nice )
Mesh Grill ( Crap DIY attempt TBH, but looks OK from distance )
Backbox ( Big, but doesnt sound all that... )
Tinted Rear Windscreen ( Already done when I brought car )

And thats it. What other mods can I get that are cheap and effective?? Id love to get it lowered, but cant afford that...

    Cheers

I cant stand lexus lights. Very chavvy. People in here tend to prefer smoked.

Slam it! I know it's, not cheap, but well worth the save.

I dropped mine (too far IMO) whacked some 16 inches on it. tinted the rear lights. Got a body kit. Got some 106 leathers from a scrappy. Then went for the grills. Then put in a 3rd brake light.

Finally, the 6x9's in she shelf, new head unit, and front speakers. I'd suggest doing this now if you're low on cash. Will make driving long distances way more bearable for you.

if you want good audio dont go for 6x9's, i had them in my previous cars and comps really are so much better, you just dont get the distortion

Just a couple of things - I hope to get some photos of my car on here soon. I already have a 3rd brake light - didnt realise that was a mod though, I thought it was standard. And - gonna sound really dumb here - what do you guys mean by 'slam it'??

Ah rite cool. Thanks mate. I would love to get it lowered, but will have to save up for a bit first. Looks really good lowered, and am I right in saying that it improves handling somehow??

And Ive just had a look at brake light covers on eBay - nice!! You can even get personalised ones!!

I have got a black vtr and have sprayed rear citroen and saxo badges black. Black on black looks good IMO, its also a cheap modification. Pressed plates look pretty sweet on them too

Yeah, basically instead of having you standard plastic number plates, you can get the metal pressed plates. They give the car a bit more detail and really suit the saxo IMO

I agree - I love black lexus lights on a black saxo - thats why I have some on my motor - if your looking for cheap mods then go for stuff like spraying alloy wheels, paint calipers, T-cut or spray the rear badges
However if you can afford more expensive things then I recommend Halo lights, lowering, tint other windows, exhaust, airfilter etc.

i'm in the same situation of lacking in ££. I am doing things like spraying my calipers, making my rear badges black, going to do my alloys white this week i think, and (my most recent, finished tonight) Spraying the front bumper

will get better pictures tomorrow. the white round the edges is glue from the masking tape!

Also things like tinting side lights etc! just small subtle stuff you can do yourself!

EDIT - Forgot yours was black so front bumper idea may not work unless you get a different colour theme on the go??

Sounds good mate - but my cars black, so I dont think painting calipers will really show up, will it?? Tinting fogs is cool, how do you do it though? Im holding off on doing anything to the headlights coz I want to get a set of black angel eyes when funds allow it...

And what do you mean by pressed plates?? Ive heard that a bit, but dont know what it means...
  24. #24
    laguna splitter looks kool imo

The lettering is pressed onto a metal plate, as apposed to plastic printed plates. Looks kinda retro, looks good.

Do not do black on black. looks shit and really boring!
as blacks not the most notceable colour you need something to stand out against which is why people go with the classic white alloys or maybe even something jazzy and bright
