looking in to it not for awhile yet but am confused with the turbo units.

is the GT17 unit just another word for a T25 unit or are they completly different? silly question i know but been looking and they look very similer

im looking in to using a old fezzie turbo T25 and the manifold im looking at says it will fit a GT17 unit but they look the same so assuming that i could use it? 4 bolts on manifold side and on the down pipe 3 bolts ?

can somebody please clear it up for me ??

by the way this is a genuine question and would appricate any constuctive comments and details no "not another turbo thread" reply

    cheers guys

I have this conversation quite often. Simple answer is it does not work like that. It all depends on what turbo you actually have. People always mistake with the T number actually means what turbo it is but its not. There are OEM models that can be just about any format and then even there generic off the shelf turbos vary greatly. The big round 3 bolt down pipe is actually quite a odd one for example. Its used on some cars as a OEM fitting. So yes you can get some of the T25 models with this fitting but most will not. The T / GT number does not even tell you really what size a turbo is. For example people often mistaken thin T3 are all good for big power. Yet a MG Metro has a T3 and they have around 90bhp if I recall correctly. Best way is try it and see
