Right guys i took my old engine out yesterday to drop my new 1 in, i checked the old engine over and i thought id manually turn it over whilst look at the cambelt as i was turning it over and i notice that 3 or 4 Teeth were missing off the cambelt, this has been playing on my mind ever since but would this affect how the engine ran? would it cause a misfire or knock the timing out of place? or something else maybe? Thanks Lee

#2could very well have put your timing out and cause a missfire yes
-
#3i wouldnt even consider using my engine knowing teeth were missing.
-
#4strange?
-
#5it wasnt a case of using the engine, i was removing it anyway to put a new engine in it, i wasnt to know teeth were missing off the belt untill i took the cambelt cover off and looked at it with the engine out of the car on the hoist.

#6constructive?
what i was saying is that its not going to be a good thing in the slightest. Could run fine but also a chance it could affect timing and bounce a valve. It wouldnt put the timing massivley out as if it was to slip it would bounce a valve. -
#7Hmm, your lucky you didnt bounce a few valves as said.
If you plan on selling the engine, Id say set the crank at TDC, mark up the current position of the cam pulley against the block with tipex, fit a new belt and time it up correctly and see how far the belt was out against the markings. Otherwise youll have to take it apart and its unlikely youll make a profit on it after a rebuild
