  1. #1
im finding it hard to get hold of a saxo oil filter assembly for a mk2 vtr and wondering as in know quite a few parts from 106 and saxo can be swapped over would the oil filter assembly off a 106 fit?

which parts do you require, get a picture up so its clear what you are after. There will be plenty of people on here who can sort you the bits out. Including myself

oko right got some pics they arent the best as they are not my pics but this is what ive got now:

and this is what i need:

i need all of that including the bolts that hold it on and the plastic housing for the oil filter

    hope this helps

i know from a citroen garage the cast pipe bit is about 86 quid plus vat. from the looks of it somone had a 4-2-1 exhaust fitted at some point.

WHy do you need it exactly mate? Its only to allow the later paper filters to be used, mayaswell just use the spin on one?
  6. #6
yeh ive been to citroen and all the parts are about £150 so that is gonna be last resort, yeh it had a 4-2-1 on it and to put the original mani back on i need to go back to mk2 location to pass MOT hence why i need the parts
  7. #7
thats what i found. if you can borrow a mk1 cat you could try that on an mot. just make sure its a proper citroen one, not an ebay cheapey.
  8. #8
Oh I see, it might be easier and cheaper to change to a MK1 cat setup, that way you get to keep your uprated mani
  9. #9
im guessing you want to put the original mk 2 cat back on it?
  10. #10
i tryed and failed miserably lol like 5times over the limit lol so i need to get the parts and go back to mk2 then ill get a new 4-2-1 where i dont have to change to mk1 filter location lol
  11. #11
i can sell you a brand new undercar cat for £70 delivered which will be cheaper easier and pass your mot
  12. #12
i wish i hadent sold my 4-2-1 now

i tryed an under car cat and it failed, he said it was because my top lamda sensor wasnt in the exhaust was just in its sleeve
  14. #14
all you need is a mk1 header and downpipe, then an under car cat

you could pick one up for £20 or less then buy a cat from me
  15. #15
The top lambda needs to be in the exhaust, the lower one goes in a sleeve. Lambdas read O2, the ECU expects the top one, before the cat, to give a much lower O2 reading than the lower one. So if its in a sleeve it will give a very high O2 reading and throw the fuelling map right off, screwing your emissions.
  16. #16
yeh but still have the problem of the top lamda cause mk1s dont have 1 in the top of the mani n was told thats the reason i failed MOT
  17. #17
they do screw in the top of the downpipe though. Which is perfectly fine
  18. #18
By the sounds of it youve put the lambdas in the wrong way round.

If not, can vouch for Toms parts. Theyre tip, top. Will be a much better price than the garage will give you
  19. #19
right so i need to buy a mk1 manifold and downpipe and an under car cat? and then plug both lamdas into that? and it will pass MOT? i thought that mk1s only had 1 lambda sensor?
  20. #20
    Thanks Ben

Lambda 1 needs to be in the manifold at the top
    and
Lambda 2 needs to be after the cat or sealed like you said has been done
  21. #21
lambda 2 only check the cat is in working condition. So isnt needed for emissions or use of the vehicle
  22. #22
i also heard somwhere to make sure the cat is properly heated before the test? dunno how true this is though.
  23. #23
It can help yes. Also redex injector cleaner. A whole bottle to 1/4 tank does wonders
  24. #24
Aye it does make a big difference, they dont work properly until theyre very hot.
  25. #25
ok so when i get mk1 manifold, downpipe and cat i only need to put the top lambda sensor in and sleeve the bottom one and it will still pass?
  26. #26
    Thats right mate
  27. #27
ok thanks alot mate just got to find a mani and downpipe for the right money now lol
  28. #28
get premium membership and go in the forsale section on here
  29. #29
i have a header downpipe and lambda i can post to you for £35
  30. #30
right ive just been out to the garage to have a look at what ive got and that, my top lambda sensor cable is long enough to go down the back of the engine which means i can plug it into the bottom of my 4-2-1 manifold and i do have a mk1 cat, so if i put my 4-2-1 on plug the top lmabda sensor into the bottome of that and then bolt the cat on after that, that should work shouldnt it?
  31. #31
I got part way through reading and gave up.

You can get the top lambda to reach down to the hole in a 4-2-1 usually, just trace the wiring back to where it goes into the main loom sleeving and run it down the back of the engine instead, should reach. Of course it will fail with the top lambda in a sleeve lol Then add a mk1 vtr cat and exhaust, sorted.
  32. #32
by exhaust im guessing you just mean any exhaust not a mk1 vtr exhaust
  33. #33
The exhausts are different obviously. The 98bhp vtr exhaust goes straight from the manifold to backbox with one silencer in, the 90bhp vtr exhaust goes, manifold, cat, centre section then backbox, obviously you already have the right exhaust if i read your posts right.

Sleeve the 2nd lambda, fit the first lambda into the manifold, re-mot.
