Engine over revving??

   I'v just bought a 02 VTR and sometimes when I'm waiting at traffic lights or something, the engine seems to rev itself like I'm tapping the accelerator over and over again?
   
   I don't know what it is! I've been told it might be the car looking for idle mode? but I'm not sure, any help please!! Thanks

   my m8s done that... he fuked about with the idle control valve and it was sorted

   Yeh that's the Idle Control Valve, mine does it too and sometimes revs to 3-4k on pure petrol lol

   yeah mine revvs to 3-4K sometimes! gets right on my tits lol. did u sort it out by getting a new idle control valve?? thanks for your help

   mine did that once then the battery went flat i charged the battery and now it fine :/

   mine doess the exact same, im only 17 and learning to drive, so really dont know how to fix it
