HIDs for Morettes?

   Did a search for this and brilliantly it brought up a thread named exactly what i was looking for, but very un-brilliantly, it didnt help at all.
   
   So, I have Mk1 Morettes and to be honest, the amount of light on the road is rubbish, but thats usually the case with most saxo's.
   
   Iv always liked HID's so just wanted to know can i get them fitted to morettes?
   
   If so, How?
   
   My morettes dont have the inside lights wired up, but would preferably like them to be.
   
   I dont know much about HID's so any help would be great!

   Yes you can fit them. You can get HID bulbs that fit in place of halogen bulbs. There simple to fit but are not actually road legal hence why all reputable retailers will not sell for road use. The other option is to swap the actually lamps out of the Morettes for ECE HID approved ones that will fit regular D2 HID bulbs. This is all perfectly legal for your high beam. Strictly speaking for low beam you would also have to fit a auto levelling system and washer jets as the bulbs are over 2000lm and so legally require.

   in other words you can get some legal alternatves than standard HID's just lights will need adjusting can be done at an MOT station if im right please say if im not

   IIRC the HIDs will crack the morettes glass lenses. And its now very hard to buy replacement parts for them.

   Only for certain lamps.
   
   Mk2 lamp are much harder...especially h7 version.

   I just bought 2 h4 lenses and the company sent me 4 even though i only ordered 2!!

   You can get HID bulbs that fit in place of the bulbs you have now but there not legal.
   
   The other option is to replace the actual lamps for HID legal ones. What you can do is put high beam on the inner and retain the outer light with a standard halogen bulb for low beam. The high beam HID could try and pinch out of another production car as I am posative there will be something that can fit. Or if you contact Morettes they may have a HID legal D2 high beam unit they can sell you. Or failing that have a look at demon tweeks or the likes.
   
   To get full HID legally is a bit more complicated as you have to legally have auto levelling lights and auto lamp washers. This can be done but its going to be quite complicated to do.
