Why are catcams more expensive than newmans PH3's?

Just been looking on Kams website, for my mk1 vtr silvertop there is over a hundred pounds difference between the two middle range, fast roads camshafts, just wondering why?
    cheers sam

newman are seen as a "budget" brand but in terms of reliability and qaulity thyere just as good as any other, end of the day the man whos sells his 100 cheaper then the competition will sell more and make more,

i thinnk newmans are pretty new into the saxo and 106 market, and a big group buy a while back got them a very good name.

as said, there just as good as catcams. its all down to people preferring different brands

i agree with axracing, catcams never used to be as exensive as it is now, if i remember they wasnt far off what newmans cam prices were, i think about 20 or 30quid dearer at very most, and at first they rised about 30 or 40quid about a year ago which was when i was looking at cams, and i think the pound became alot weaker to the euro (i think that is the correct way of putting it lol) and since it must have risen more in price

also didnt newmans used to be like 165plus the vat? or am i thinking of a group buy?

they are just as good though imo,

but catcam do offer a lot larger range of cams for the 106 and saxo
newman has 4 cams for 8v saxo, 2 for blacktop and 2 for silvertop, where as newmans has about 6 or 7 different cams i think

and its the same for 16v, i think newmans has 3 or 4 cant remember exactly, but again catcams has 6 or 7 different cams

its mostly due to the weak pound. Everything from europe is really expensive at the moment

I'd rather put the money in Mr Newman's pocket.
