Ultimately dire fuel consumption!

Ive done 90 miles and its used nearly half a tank to the gauge which is about (very approx) 20 litres-ish

using these figures gives me roghly about 20 mpg, fair enough ive drove with a heavy right foot but nothing ridiculous

any suggestions, apart from driving a bit more sensibly of course

Dont trust the fuel dial. Just fill her up, and see how many miles you do to a tank. I fine my fuel dial oftern goes up or down a bit. Its not very reliable.

its been pretty consistent to be honest mate, although top half = bigger than bottom half. Maybe the sensor has froze or something haha

top half of the tank is bigger but since you are running cams and say its chipped does that meen you had it remaped or just a chip ? my mates 106 gti has a super chip on it allows it to rev to 8k but if u follow it stinks of petrol as the chip puts to much in and overfules it and he gets poor mpg to

no idea to be honest, just chipped i think.. not some e-bay chip lol still got rev limiter before red line and lumpy idle.

my car doesn't get the best mpg usually about 30-34 but 20! something is up
    lol

And the weather has been FREEZING.

Colder, denser air = more performance but more fuel consumption

I do half a tank in 2 miles no lie, only since this cold weather though... I go 2 miles to work and 2 miles back, that in the last month has been a fill up every day almost... In the hotter weather it did a full tank in about a week and that included driving about with mates... The cold weather messes everything up it's crazy!! Lol

Could just be the conditions at the moment but try checking tyre pressures.
Also when did you have the last service?
Could be a combination of air filter needs cleaning/replacing, spark plugs need replacing, new fuel pump may be required too.

air filter, ive got an induction kit so i could do with cleaning that
probably does want new spark plugs and a pump tbh.

Have you changed your fuel filter recently? As they can become blocked up this will decrease mpg.

    Steve.

I am finding that my mpg has dipped with this cold weather as well, dont forget the price of fuel is going up as well though. Roll on summer

yeah never trust that fuel gauge i always go on from knowing its about a 45 litre tank and the percent of how much goes in, i know if i put £20 in thats nearly half a tank
