banded steels

#1
-
#2wheel whores have some sometimes,
think its easier to just get a set banded yourself, not cheap though -
#3How wide are you after? Have you had a look at the 106 S2 rallye wheels?
-
#4Also, worth mentioning you need them certificated if you want them to be road legal. Banded steel's can be very dangerous if not done properly!
-
#5not really to sure on what size yet, just bored off alloys , there everywhere lol, what size band would people suggest,
-
#6106 rallye wheels arent wide at all really
-
#7it doesnt matter if there not wide if your going to band them
-
#8but you cant band rallye steelies as there alloy apparently lol vtr spare rims are steel and look all the same tho
-
#9ive got 106 rallye wheels curb one of them and its got surface rust, alloy doesnt rust?
-
#10too far away m8
-
#12you can get your alloys banded in places
(so ive heard) lol
-
#13get it done in places....sure
ive made my own for a laugh when bored at work... but if the weld breaks or splits...
noice fyl!
wide-wheels . . .google it. -
#14ye thats what puts me of the idea of it all.... look mint tho
-
#15google banded steels web site there i spoke to the guy about getting some done
-
#16any good for track days tho??
-
#17well if they have been done properly and good weld through then it's as strong as the weld i suppose the guy had a vid of the welding prosess and looked professional and not half bad. but if your doing track days i'de advise some better alloys compo's or summot just for peice of mind
-
#18ye i want the wide stance but steels are nice and strong if you go in the gravel
-
#20i would love a set people keep hold off them tho round here cant buy any.
-
#21doubt ull get a set 2nd hand only ever seeing 2 sets of 108pcd banded steels and that only been in the last 6 month or so. So there a RARE thing to find 2nd hand! As for all the peoples safety concerns, at the end of the day its only welding, if done correctly there nothing to worry about ever, prob something else would fail befoer the wheels. How many ppl have had welding for MOT's etc & not examend it afterwards! I've seen a VW caddy on hydraulics with banded wheels, bouncing up and down on them & it was the suspension comps that failed & broke 1st not the wheels!
