Saxo Common Rust Spots

  1. #1
    hey,
could we all put together a list here off all the common places rust can from on our saxos, thought it be helpful......
  2. #2
underneath ECU, and doors iv found.
  3. #3
Inner wings - mostly under the ECU bracket.
Boot floor and rear towing eye.
The area infront of the front jacking points (with the rubber plugs in).
  4. #4
which areas of rust would make car fail m.o.t?
  5. #5
they look at areas with 30cm radius of a structural point, and sharp edges can fail
  6. #6
what about rsut in rear arches?
  7. #7
depends how close they are to the sill and suspension strut. and if they have showing sharp edges.
  8. #8
anyone wanna post before/after shots of rust and welding?
  9. #9
not got any, but im sure someone will have some, iv got some of my nova?
  10. #10
around washer bottle tends to be a bad place
  11. #11
    i found rust in..

Jacking points underneath the car (the one with 3 grommets)
Under the ECU and Fusebox in the engine bay
Rear inner wheel arches- found another rust hole when i stripped the rear end trims for welding. This was a big hole up near the rear top seatbelt mounting.
Front chassis rail where the clips for the inner wheel arch liners go.

thats it so far.. although the outer sills are covered by the side skirts, but id put money on there being some holes... still, what you cant see, you cant test!!

yer as said within 30cm of a structual area, but as cheeky as it is, there not aloud to remove or move anything, so technically if you did a bodge job then covered it over in underseal it will pass, but i strongly advise not doing this, if you do have rust, get it repaired properly, as it will just end up coming back in the long run.

    Main areas are:

    rear tow eye
chasis legs underneath by rubber gromits
    under ecu
    struts
the rear arches where they join the boot floor

i had some on my rocker cover

Not happy! i just found a big hole on the rear drivers side wheel arch where the arch meets the floor! You could push an egg thru t's that big.I was wondering why my boot floor was getting wet.Only spotted it when i pulled the carpet back .Dont think there are any more holes but i'm scared to look now! lol
