battery light?

   hi, right i have a 2000 saxo furio and the battery light is flickering, when i fiddle with the 2 wire plug on the alternator it goes out but comes back on again, i cant get it to stay off perminatly? any ideas what i could do would be good?

   hi mate it could be corrosion on the terminal on the alternator, disconnect the battery and take off the 13mm nut clean up the ring terminal with some sandpaper also try and get as much corrosion as possible off the post which it sits on.

   just cleaned the termanls on the alternator the battery light is still on i can get it to flicker when i fiddle with the plug which has 2 wires off it but i cant get it to stay off permantly. what is that plug for?
   i checked the voltage and its charging just over 18 volts is this right?

   over 18 volts?!
   should be between around 12-13?
   sounds like an alternator prob

   ye, the battery dosent go flat when turned off and started again it allways starts. but when left running the lights go dim untill you give it a rev then it builds back up ?

   Alternator fucked?, was on my xs seemed to be over charging!
