#2From the Different head/inlet i'd presume.
-
#3combo of the head, inlet and std map.. the newer engine was re-developed in 2000
-
#4Its a very different engine they made tones of changes. If your looking for a bit or two you can simple bolt on a early engine to bring it up to later spec forget it.
-
#5tbf drove a few saxo 8v's and there quet a difference between the new and old engine..
id be interested in seing a full spec sheet of what exactly changed -
#6the rockers changed from solid rockers to roller rockers, the inlet port spacing is different, exhaust setup is different, different map/managment, iirc softer valvesprings??
there are quite a few differences, id personally say the black top engine is the one id choose purley because you can interchange 106 rallye/xsi bits eaisly -
#7me too i have a couple of saxo vtr engines lying around 1 is a mk 1 ones a early silver top and other is a late silver top engine and if the block/ stroke piston size all the same then surley a mk1 engine could get 98hp using 3 plug ecu and all bolt ons ie inlet mani sensers etc ????????????
-
#8not as easy as i thought then thanks toall and miamiblueboy
-
#9sorry if this is off the topic... but what are the diffrences between the 90bhp black top and 90bhp silver top???
-
#10the head and its internals, inlet, cam, type of coilpack1 user thanked this post:
-
#11Just get a blacktop and run rallye/xsi head and s1 inlet will see surely 105ish?
-
#12yup thats the best thing to do, or even fit a different cam at the same time
-
#13ive got a 90bhp silvertop but as its 90bhp what mpg am i lookin at roughly accordin to parkers bcus there is about 8mpg differance between the two.. noob question i know jus confused between it
