Mk2 VTR Engine mk1 exhaust?

Hey. Im thinking of instead of getting a vts engine conversion just sticking with a lower mileage vtr engine due to lower insurance costs and road tax (im 26 but tight lol) one thing is when i come to upgrade the exhaust system i would like to get a manifold to go with it.

I understand that if i buy most manifolds for a mk2 VTR it will de-cat the car which is no good to me i want the car to be legal i heard that i could just get a mk1 exhaust systemwith the cat in the middle?

In that case does this mean i need to buy the manifold for a mk2 a cat from a mk1 and an exhaust from a mk1? Also as the mk2 has 8bhp more is this the reason whyit has that extra power ie am i going to be restricting my mk2's power by fitting a mk1 system?

Any help would be great and if anyone has a low mileage vtr mk2 engine im very interested.

    You got it mate
    4-2-1, mk1 cat under car---- mk1 centre pipe--backbox

this setup will not loose you power. There were many different things which made that extra 8bhp on your engine, none of which the exhaust will effect.

Just so i don't make a mistake and buy the wrong bits.
Its definately the manifold for a mk2 i need? I assume i'll be able to buy a cat of citroen? Im assuming quite expensive? And obviously a full mk1 exhaust system.

yea mk2 manifold, mk1 cat, mk1 cat back exhaust easy lol
you can get cats from citroen but will be very expensive, if you post you want one in the wanted section there will be people selling them thats where i got mine from wasnt expensive cant remember what i paid but wasnt a lot, but you run the risk of it not being in good condition to pass an mot
