What will make it sound better?

   My R reg 1.1 is starting to sound quite shitty now, like a really old car engine and was wondering what will make it sound better, would a service do anything?

   new oil and replacement filter are the only cheapish things i can think of.
   
   Stick some fuel additives in it for a few fuel tanks and that should give the injectors and fuel system a nice clean.
   
   I wouldnt do a service unless its due, coz of the expense and that and it probably wouldn't make the car sound much better.

   what is it that sounds bad? tappets? run an oil additive and injection cleaner through it, it'll never sound like a new engine but it may help

   Oil change, oil filter and spark plugs would be on the list!

   if its got high ish mileage like over 80k dont put an engine flush in itll make it sound like a bag a nails
