HELP: VTR cutting out while driving when hot

  1. #1
    Hey people,
Can any one tell me why my stupid Saxo cuts out while i'm driving? Basically it drives well, starts well and is a gd all round car, how ever been a thick bint i forgot anti freeze ( waits for all the males to stop tutting and giggling) but being sencible we defrosted it in a sencible way. Car was still brilliant, untill 2 days go when it suddly cut out on a roundabout... it started straight away and now i can almost predict when its gonna cut out. It gets warm and is plodding along nicely...then the judder will start and it cuts out...cant even bump it. It still starts fine and doesnt do it again for quite a few miles...so i am completely baffled...any 1 got any idea at all??

    Fankooo xx

basically your engine is overheating and the "blue" plug beside the thermostat is noticing that and it sends a signal to the ECU to stop feeding fuel thus it stops ... once the engine cools down (say 10mins) and try to start it again.

If it starts I can't promise you'll get home but if you get home check for the usual head gasket problems.

Check you radiator is it full ?

Maybe the system needs topped up either ?

The reason I say this is because I've just changed my radiator (old one was fecked) I had the exact same problem and the guy from the RAC told me this was the reason for the engine to stop. (he checked the battery, alternator and they were fine)

take the blue plug off the engine block and see if it starts ? Let me know
