help with my saxo 1.1i urgent

   hi i have got a 2001 y reg citroen saxo 1.1i desire when i 2nd 3rd gear the car feels as if the fuel not going thru there like a few secounds delay
   
   i am stuck on what it can be this is my first ever petrol car i alway and still have diesel cars
   
   so any help would be great

   it could be clutch slip or not enough fuel from ur fuel pump or it could be ur mass airflow meater not working right as a friend had same prob with his 106

   clutch slip, badly maintained engine, clogged fuel filter etc
