Any point in lowering springs only?

    Hi, can anyone help me im abit strapped for cash at the moment but the saxo desperately needs to be lowered to just take that "french wobble" out of the look. Would it be worth it just to lower it on springs or wait to get the full kit of coilies and also springs. Would it alter the handling at all just using springs or just make it look that bit better?

    Cheeeers =]

    Depends how low you want to go. 40mm should be ok but shock life will be reduced.

    Wait til you have more cash bud!!

    I don't supply parts at the moment. You should visit kamracing.co.uk

    find your springs and then add £80 onto that for me to adjust the torsion bar and fit the springs.

    in all honesty mate its not worth doing with out uprating the dampers, something even basic like the bilstein 10% uprated you can get for cheap, i lowered mine and one of my rear shocks is leaking after only 5-6 months, never noticed till now the cars off the road but its not good

    If you get springs and shocks for the front do you need to get new rear dampers?

    Oh right that can't be too good then, where could i get the bilstein 10% uprated shocks from and a rough price that they would poss cost?

    probs get them off ebay fairly cheap, could of had a psx or vsx kit i had but thyere both sold now, have a search mate, theres a psx still up in the sale section i think? very good kits

    Typical that! I shall have a good scout around but its a defo mod that needs doing to the saxo!

    have a look around for kits but ebay you can find some real bargains. For the rear i wouldnt lower it unless you are replacing the rear dampes, but front you can get away with it without chaning the shocks aslong as you dont go below 40mm. So if your stuck for money search ebay for spax, apex, eibach 40mm lowering springs, and then search for rear shocks along the lines of spax, gmax, apex, blisteins. and then KrisB is your man if youve never done it before, as its not a simple job if you dont no what your doing.

    I shall take a look on ebay and take that advice about the rear shocks and front springs, sounds like a cheaper yet good option. Cheers for all people

    KrisB Does your price include lowering of the torsion bar also?
  14. #14
    yer it does as he has a deal on up to the end of jan i do believe
  15. #15
    So thats all round torsion bar and springs, does the saxo have rear springs that would need replacing or is it just the dampers?

    Ive got 30mm springs on mine and its made a big improvement, although i will be getting decent shocks later in the year, would rather the set up i've got now than standard.
