Quesrion about xsi head on furio engine

  1. #1
Does anyone know if this will fit with no modification? I believe the head should be a straight swap?

Would I see much of a gain if I were to use the XSi 1.4 head and VTR inlet manifold & TB?

    Cheers

the valves will clash with the piston's.

thts what i was told when i was going to put a rallye head on a 98hp vtr lump, its because the rallye/xsi have dished pistons.

aah, ok well I guess I would be best camming the existing head then and putting VTR TB's and inlet manifold on then a 4-2-1 exhaust manifold?
  4. #4
    i reckon so.

that is a cam on ebay at the moment.
  5. #5
someone else guna cam a furio?
  6. #6
yep, think so unless there is a better way to gain from a furio engine?

Its not really worth it, for the money spent you wont even be anywhere near vts power.
You would be better sorting out suspension and brakes and saving up for a vts

Not interested in VTR/VTS, as previously stated in another post I am looking to enter English MSA rally championship in the 1400cc class so need to get as much power from 1400 as possible!
  10. #10
Well you want to be following the msa blue book and the regs of the club that run the championship
  11. #11
mines had 4-2-1,cda air box, cam, straight through pipes and is only runnin 87bhp

as to said if you can keep the speed in the corners and brake later you will get a better overal performance

I have seen several 180bhp 1.4 tu engines in that championship. If you going to take it seriously send the engine off to someone like longmans and let them build it.
  13. #13
yeah cheers, got the msa regs and english rally championship class regs too so will take another look
  14. #14
how much money have you got to spend on it?
  15. #15
well I'm a novice, and want to start with minor mods then build on it when I have more money! Any advice on what I could start with for best power gains on a budget?
  16. #16
1400 is a very very competitive championship.
To build a car from scratch your looking around £7k just to be upto minimum standard.
Then you want a few grand in development so you can build a fast car which will be competitive

I had considered the 205 cup as I can do that on a budget, and the engine modifications they allow are minimal! They opened it up last year to any citroen/peugeot vehicle with the 1360tu engine so that might be an idea?

That would be a better series to join as a novice or the mg metro cup

If using XSi head on a furio make sure the furio is an early single plug ecu type car, that way you can just use the full XSi top end setup. It will bolt right on no mods needed I did this to my old car with usual mods and amde circa 105bhp and cost of that was about £200 all in with hg belt change etc.

ANother thing to consider if you can is getting a full S1 rallye top end setup if you can and bolt that on? I know of a lad on ssc that did that with a few more bits made 119bhp.

Heads will go on no problems as the furios all used flat top pistons whilst the xsi/ralyle used domed ones so valve clearances will be fine

yeah the engine is a 2002 furio engine, and about the 205 cup I think you're probably right, as I'm on a budget and its a national b event
  21. #21
why dont you do stock hatch... they all use the vtrs
  22. #22
Wouldnt it be easier to start with a 1.4 XSi instead of using all the bits, then you have a decent box aswel as bein lighter?
