Brake Disks

    hey guys,
I know this is probably a simple question, but i would like to know how much difference it would make in the braking if i was to upgrade my solid disks to drilled and grooved disks?

    Cheers

Not a great deal to be honest, especially not on the smaller 1.1 brake setup

You'd be better upgrading your calipers to the VTR/S (or even furio/westcoast) ones which you should be able to pick up for virtually peanuts.

Then run these with decent quality disks and pads and itll be a significant difference

Have you got a Mk1 or a Mk2 1.1 and had it got 3 stud or 4 stud hub assembly??? If its 4 stud then you can do the above with ease.

    They do nothing generally.

As said do nothing just a selling point to people who know nowt about them

big powered cars they may benefit but tbh saxos dont class as that

ive got grooved and drilled discs with my wilwoods and tbh i think they would be better with plain discs as they need heat in them to really work anyway

you can by changing the hub/strut over an the rear beam/hubs

lot of work though for what you will gain, so may aswell just get some decent pads and discs like mintex

Or you could think about an ax gt setup, not sure if there any different though

yeahhh not worth doing that work, i currently have mintex discs and pads not long fitted so i think im going to stick with them

You will see more of an improvement, with larger discs and calipers using better pads. The grooves increase the friction between the disc and pad, hence improved braking performance.
