Hardly any money: quickest, easiest, cheapest mods for interior + exterior?

  1. #1
Basically i've hit a money blackspot and i'm looking to still improve my car, just without spending too much dollar. What ideas do you have for me that cost nothing or relatively little?

De-wipering: really want to do this. Read the guide on here which seems very clear, but im still a bit unsure on this, what do i actually need?

    LED's:
Clocks: Want to change the standard crappy green to LED Blue: there is a guide on here but haven't been able to read it yet. Is this easy to do? where can i get the materials from to do this and for how much? again, is it an easy mod to do?
Under the footwells: Want the blue leds to light up the footwells: whats the best way to do this and where to fix them?

    Any other ideas?

Just after simple mods that are easy to do without spending too much money etc.

    Thanks!

Thanks mate, been thinking about this.

Whats the best way to do this? and what are the best materials?

Did it with an old mate but they came out shocking; he just sprayed onto the original plastic?

change the interior bulbs to leds?

I fitted a red one in my golf, had blue and white ones before in old saxo's. Looks quite good!

If you are looking to change the dials, its a bit of a bitch. I've done it on mine now.

READ the guide! I read it a few times before actually doing it, you need to take your steering wheel off, and get your clocks out.

As you've got a MK1 - I think yours is a little easier, you need to get replacement bulbs which just screw in, I believe? The MK2 has little LED's you have to solder.

Ring up www.crazyleds.co.uk - Blokes awesome there, he helped me get the right things for my saxo, and my girlfriends corsa

Just remove the rear wiper bolt cover (black plastic bit) use shit loads of WD-40 and using a spanner etc remove the bolt. After this ur left withther wiper and the motor arm sticking out, using a puller remove the wiper. Again apply loads of WD-40 as it will be stiff. Then simply remove the last bolt and open up the boot. Remove boot plastic (three torox screws if i remeber) and unscrew and remove wiper motor. Then buy a plug from halfords (couple of quid if that) and using a little sealent to prevent water gettin in, place it in the small hole u have left (should be a snu fit) and ur done.

Spraying plastics is easy, Remove them from car (there is a guide on here). Then clean in hot water (remove polish etc). Then sand then down with some sand paper (nice and cheap to get). Once done, spray with PLASTIC primper. Will need a few coats. Leave to dry for 24hrs. Sand down with fine sand paper if needed to get a smooth look. Apply 3 layers of paint of ur choice. In beween each layer, allow to dry and sand down with fine sand paper. After this apply a coat or two of laquer. Make sure u take ur time. Leave to dry for as long as u have. It will prob take a week between waiting for all the paint to dry and all the layers to be done. But if you do it will really freshen up ur car

    Sand paper is about £5
    Plastic primer is around £6
Paint will be around £20 quid, as ull need a few cans to do it all
    Laquer is around £7

Again did this ages ago so cant remeber exactly but im sure someone will correct me if needs be. I did it, came out lovley.
