What year is this engine from?

    Can anyone tell from this picture whether this engine came from a single plug or a 3 plug car?

    id punt on it being a 3 plug due to the 2 prongs on the head, but I can't see the loom . . . . .

    So the 2 prongs on the front of the head means 3-plug?

    Mines has that, i thought it was a single as it's an early Mk2

    i think its 3 plug bcos the oil dipstick didnt go inbetween the manifold on the older single plug engine.

    Looks like 3 plug to me. Does it have the port on the right-hand side of the head for the EGR/ fresh air pump to connect to?

    Yea mine has prongs and its an early mk2 single plug with digital dials.

    my old vts engine had 2 prongs and was a single plug

    Dont know. Only got a photo of it.

    If it is a 3 plug would it fit in a single plug car if i used the loom and the sensors etc from my single plug?

    Mines a crossover single plug with digital dials and has prongs....

    What i want to know is can i use this engine if it came from a 3 plug car with my single plug loom, sensors etc.

    If you use the sensors on the engine/your old engine and your old loom then it'll be fine.

    iirc the only real differences are some of the loom/sensor plugs, like alternator, coil pack

    if thats true then its a 3 plug, as my old vts was an 02 plate and the dipstick was in the same place
