Exhaust Pop

Just how exatly do you make a exhaust pop? Simple case of removing the CAT and adding a de-cat?

Also, to make it spit flames, you could wire up a spark plug stuck in the exhaust or would you need a manifold too?

mine started popping after i de-catted it and fitted a slightly larger diameter back box. i think its about making it free flowing really. sounds awesome cammed idle that pops like a beeatch on the over-run between 3000 and 2000 rpm

It does, ideally you have to do it just before you enter McDonalds car park, otherwise theres not much point.

another way to make it pop is to rev it to 4 1/2 thousand revs n turn key on n off but it aint good for ur ecu or ignition barrel (N) but it does go bang

    i am actually being serious.

I have a 5 door punto, which is already lowered as much as possible without cutting springs (looks pritty good on painted steel wheels) and as for the LOL factor, i want the standard exhaust to pop. And i do have a cat of cause.

8v's don't flame as much as 16v's but they still pop quite a bit.

a 16v with a superspring might flame everytime it hits the rev limiter when the exhaust is hot.

All depends on fueling as well really.
