Et0 offset useable?

    Hewo

Am buying some 7 x 13 minilights for track wheels, But the only available offset you can get them in, with 4 x 108 fitment is et0. Is the 15mm extra going to be too much, or has anyone used similar.

I was hoping it would be ok, as the wheels are small in diameter, And the car is on fairly hard springs...

Or can the wheels be machined down?

    Tyres are will be 16/53/13's

ye they should go on. might be a bit of poke at the front though
  3. #3
they will poke out loads matey, you will need arch extensions to make it legal.
  4. #4
fine i would have thought dude iirc there is a lad on here running 25mm on vts wheels which would bring them down to -10 offset which should account for the exta inch you have.
  5. #5
my offset is et12'ish and my front wheels are right on the limit. if you were being picky you could say they petrude out of the body.

danny are you running 205 tyres?

yep on a 7" rim wich i suppose would make a big difference.

olly run more neg camber to tuck thew tyres if the do stick out lol

btw i should have the top mounts designed and ready to be machined by monday.

Danny, the car isnt road legal anyway dont think it will be in my posession.., So if they dont rub majorly im ok with it like

Plus the tyres i can get are only the equivalent of 175 width so shouldnt be as bad as 205.

Webby, i have a little camber already, but some adjustable top mounts would be a good idea Any form of top mount is getting more necessary atm, need to move the car asap.

You got a pic/drawing of your design for the top mount i can have a pre-look at?

i havent got a scanner mate or i would have uploaded them and sent them to you.

look similar to the ast but with infinate adjustability not the 4 holes like an ast. i will try and get some pics on monday if i get a spare hour or so to get them knocked up at the shop.

Cool, sounds good dude.! How are you doing that then? Thought the ast's had a series of holes, so if you went out on one set, you moved the bolts across tot he other side of the mount if you get what i mean...

    Found these guys,

    http://www.xyz-racing.com/coilover1.php

But no word of a reply. Might just do what you have done and get some made, i need them asap lol.

ast's dont just have 4 holes...
they have about 6 holes of wich you choose wich ones to use according to the camber you run and the bolts are on sliders..
ast top mounts will give you ALL the camber you will need and more.

    tai that company is.
i will let you know how sucsessfull these are asap dude.

Yer its a foreign company, but they list a saxo mount, So would ahve thought there is business in this country too..

Nice one danny Might just wait till i have some more wages and buy the ast's/ job done and will be saleable should i ever want rid atleast...

I use et5 and just about get away with it.

Remember you will also need the centre bore of the wheel machining out if its a ford fitment.

et0 wheels you might be able to machine the centre down a little to reduce the offset, but I really depends on the thickness of material there as to how much you can get away with before structure becomes a problem.

Thanks for that marc! Have found some other wheels in et2 or et 22 offset, But the stud pattern is way out! Here is what the guy Said i could do if i wanted to use them:

first we got one nut fitment wheel available, price £70 each wheel,
them get custom hub fitting kit convert it from 108 X 4 PCD to one single nuts,
    about £50-60 each X 4

second way to do that, take it to the mechine shop, redrill PCD to 108 X 4

thrid way, custom special order wheel, anyway size you want, wheel made from Billt very light and very strong, but very very expensive about £150 - £200 each wheel

four way, if you would get 500 pieces order, than i can order them from the factory straight away, for any PCD fitment and ET offset you want, even any colour you want,
but must be at least 500 pieces order

    thanks smil
I guess machining new/correct pattern holes would be the easiest, as can do the bore size too.... Just dont know how much strength would be lost The other 3 options seem expensive

But then on the whole, i might aswell just buy the correct stud pattern wheels and get the centres machined and maybe a flashing off the offset.

Its a cheap way to get more track. Id be more worried about the effect on the camber, it will make it few degrees more negative then it is now.
  21. #21
Not after more track tbh, and nor is it cheap, Just want to be able to use 13" tyres............ as marc pointed out to me=uber mission
  22. #22
Well buying wheels with more offset is a cheap way of getting extra track rather than changing the suspension+subframe. Naa mean.
