More Farting With Standard Fanimold

    hey guys.

Well sadley my much loved 4-1 manifold snapped in half last week so ihave had to revert back to a standard mani, boooo.

I can certainly feel the difference in power, the car is alot less responsive but im just going to leave it like that untill the turbo conversion.

Anyhow, since having this put back on the ca is poping, banging and burbling ALOT more than with the 4-1... anyone car to explain why this is???

Surely you would think it would be more poppy with the 4-1 rather than the standard manifold.... i base this on it poping once on up & down changes with the 4-1 and roughly 3-4 times (and louder) with the standard mani...

also it pops when just reving to 2k

Full SS race pipe and SS backbox also fitted....

any idea why this is guys

    Fankooo

Could be a bad gasket seal sucking air in? Can't think of anytrhing else off hand thou

If you have no leaks, it's most likely due to the Engine being used to your old set up, when you had the 4-1 on the Engine used more fuel because more gasses were able to get out therfore the ECU put more fuel in. Now you've changed it back it no longer needs that fuel but it is still putting it in, thus the popping and banging.

You'll most likely find it'll settle down after a while as the ECU sorts the fuel out.

I've had simular things as I'm always changing Manifolds and Exhausts on my car

I'd have thought there would be a leak in the gasket (are you using your old gasket?).

Otherwise, it'll be the fuel trims set on the ECU, the Lambda is closer to the exhaust headers on the standard than the 4-1 and as a result there is a slight 'lag' between the tweak being made and the ECU actually registering that 'tweak'. So the fuel trims are adjusted as a consequence. If you can reset the ECU then do that, else you'll have to wait for the ECU to gradually readjust.

Its been liek this for a week now and still doing it...

meh, i like it and my fuel consumption is a tad better so all is ok, was just wondering

    why do you ask??

It'll take about 500 miles to fully sort itself out man, so don't worry too much if you don't cover massive mileage
