ok well your best bet is to have alook at the above link, its got alot of the gearbox ratios calculated.
Though if your not worried about top end then I believe the rallye box is the shortest, though you'll have a top speed of 106mph.. that was calculated with a standard vtr rev limiter and running 15" wheels with 195/45/15 tyres.

look for a 1.1 box mate! you would probably pick it up cheaper... you mention VTS to a scrappy and his eyes will light up and he`ll charge you the earth for it for the name!.
a 1.1 box will be rapid off the mark or even a four speed box if you dont care about top end, but it will be screaming at about 80!.
