Car is shaking when ticking over badly

   Just happend all of a sudden when i was out n pulled up, but there aint no noise coming from the engine just when i rev it its ded sluggish and sounds rough on the tailpipe on my exhuast there aint no blowing on the manifold just checked it, but its dead loud at the back when i pull off, possible problems starting with the easiest first please

   hmmm, could be your cat. Sounds as though it may be blocked up.

   mine did this and it was the fuel pump? just throwing that in there, sounds like what happened to me

   I thought cat too as its rough as when i rev it and pull off it wont go over 30mph and its juddering dead bad when im driving it, and it could be fuel pump cheers whats best way finding out and cheapest?

   sounds like a misfire
   check
   spark plugs
   coilpack
   injectors
   fuel pump and filter

   sounds like missfire mate, my mates car done this, really shakey ect turned out to be coil pack,... is your EML on?

   Mine did this, was misfires like mentioned, got a new coilpack and that fixed it

   Ok thanks but i have no EML on? and when i rev it sounds rough as. i dont want spend loads of money buying parts for it that wont need replacing how will i know if its the coil pack without taking it the garage?

   it could be tghe engine mount pal it happend to mine check the rubbers on them

    a dead/dying coil pack tends to cause irratic revs i.e. revving to about 3k when stationary or just plain cutting out, also causes misfire when your around 2k revs and let off the gas it lurches, not sure about any visual indications as to what the pack would look like if its dead however

    Get a compression and leak down test done.

    it to check the compression in each cylinder mate and to c if u got a low compession

    Ok cheers, just got me neighbour around whos quite a dab hand with cars he checked me coil pack and only 2 of the ports are sparking when its been turned over, so it seems thats the problem, going go scrapper tomorrow to get one hope that is the problem though but it looks like it is.
