i got a set of raceland coilovers off ebay cos they said they went down 120mm but the shocks that come with them are way to soft and they bottom out everywhere. i read on here somewhere that if i use uprated shocks then it would stop this from happening but i dunno what shocks to use any help? cheers
whats the best uprated front shocks to use?

#2If you're trying to go down 120mm (which the racelands wont) then its more likely to be your wishbones and anti roll bar smashing on your shell rather than the shocks/dampers banging
That aside even at a 'sensible height' the racelands are the poorest quality out there -
#3120mm is just silly imo! Will make handling worse
-
#4ok thanks for that but my question was what are the best shocks to use lol any way who wants sensible ride you want it as low as possible looks so much cooler!
-
#5will make it un driveable imo, but yeah racelands are shit, and the best are mega expensive
-
#7Sorry i didn't mean to piss you off.My fault.Bilstein ftw though
-
#9its ok its just everytime i ask a question on here i get everyones opinon on things rather than answers lol cheers mate what bilstens though cos i have looked and there are quite a few different types?
-
#10Sorry yep i know what you mean!Didn't mean too but i agree this site has got worse!
Ergh have a look on the kam racing website mate!I haven't got them myself yet but just know you can't really go wrong with them! -
#11ok cheers for that mate ill have a look on there!

#12No probs.Sorry im not much help!
-
#13imo bilstein b8s with faulkner 155Ib springs
-
#14cant go wrong with what saxo furio said tbh
-
#16120 on the front is NOT possible
tbh shocks arent the issue
its the springs are too soft
then shocks wont be of any use on harder springs though
i would look at something like a 200lb spring and some pugsport dampers as billies wont go through the raceland collar
and as willsy said past about 95mm the wishbones and arb clash the shell so past that is not doable -
#17Isnt it nearer to 80mm where they touch? Either way like Alex says you ideally need much stiffer springs. The only good part about that raceland kit is the 2 C spanners you get with it

1. Its an instant MOT failure
2. Itll be dangerous to drive and not just poor ride quality
And also you will not get a damper/shock that can cope with that sort of height without bottoming out, whatever you get it WILL have to be modified by at least shortening them.
Advice has been given, its upto you if you want to try and do it anyway -
#19I am not sure any off the shelf shortened damper is designed to go that low either. You will have a car that sits on the bumpstops and has no damper movement.
