Important! : Rear Axel!!!!!

  1. #1
When there was snow all over the UK im sure alot of you went out and had fun! ... I did the same and it went wrong :/
I went sideways into a curb and both front left and rear left hit it, aound 40 mph, i have been told i need a new rear axel! does anyone no where i can get one for cheap? ..
Also if i turn my wheel to the right there is an awful grinding noise! .. I have been told this may be the wheel bearing, is this the case? ... also the wheel seems to be at an angle when just sitting there, i no there supposed but there sitting at the opposite angle to what it should be!! any ideas?

    Thanks

It sounds like you've bent the beam mate...that means new axle time and theres not much chance of getting one cheap. You probably damaged the front wishbone and/or droplink and possibly the driveshaft too...depends how hard the impact was. Best bet is to take it to a garage and get it looked at.

Try http://www.imaxle.co.uk/ - He usally has some reconditioned axels for £275.

I think I'll be needing a new axel too - Got my back drivers side wheel bending in on me!

Your more likely to have fucked your shell then bent the axle ....

That is one of the worst typed messages i have seen.

MK1 and Mk2(saxo&106) axles are the same and are not prone to failing.

I would not buy a cheap rear beam either as you do not know what condition it will be in. Get a refurbed beam, piggy123 on here does them and is very good.

Better to get a standard one and lower it yourself...at least that way you'll know for sure that it hasnt been lowered by notches.
