Post your oil leaks!

    i thought this might be a useful idea, for anybody trying to diagnose their mystery leaks... if everyone posted up a photo of their leak and what the cause of it is, then we could build up some kind of diagnosis thing...
    good idea? or not?

    Sorry but not a good idea IMO

    Anyone thinking of fixing the oil leak should be able to diagnose it themselves tbh - otherwise they shouldn't be trying to fix it = time to book it into the garage

    didnt mean trying to fix it, just to see whether its more serious or not, if you get me, for say diagnosing HG's etc..

    yeh suppose it might be useful.

    The oil leaks on a car as either:

    hg,
    rocker/camcovers,
    cam ladders
    camshaft oil seals
    crankshaft oil seals
    oil filter
    breather pipe
    sump plug
    sump
    oil pressure/level sensor on the front of the block

    as above quite useless, if you cant see where its coming from your obviousley not competant enough to repair it,

    you forgot about gearbox oil, mines leaking because I need a driveshaft seal easy fix though

    i have done a car today that had an odd casting mark on the crank pulley and it had worn through the timing chest. very very odd
