Does this look okay? ( with pics )

Hi guys i put this green cotton induction kit on last night, it seems perfect so just wondered if it looks fitted right???

THIS next pic, ive put the breather filter on the hose from the crankcase i believe?? i can smell a little bit of fumes inside the car so do you think i can extend this hose to the front of the car so the fumes aint near the car????

excuse the dirty parts, it was late when i fitted it and needs a clean LOL!!

so is it fitted okay??? any help would be appreciated, the kit dont make a massive noise but i feel the car flys now!!!!

Looks like its fitted ok however the filter on top of the rocker cover should really go back into the air feed. You might be able to smell fumes in the car but not anything major.

That kit has prob made your car slower now though.

Even with the cold air feed there it still looks like it would be sucking in hot air tbh
  4. #4
as above.... it will be sucking in hot air
  5. #5
looks pretty poor. Set up of with plugs etc but will be awfull.
  6. #6
too much hot air will get into that!!
  7. #7
why not just get a enclosed induction kit from kam racing? they seem very reasonably priced too
  8. #8
yea it definatly will take to much hot air in like
  9. #9
and that engine needsa a good xclean lol

where else could i have put them do you think???

it was really my first attempt.. What harm would it do by sucking in too much hot air??? i know the kits you mean, the closed induction kits. i might invest but is this okay for now or back to standard sharpish??
  11. #11
your engine needs cold air. enclosed kits take air from the front of the car whereas yours will be sucking up the hot air around the engine. no need to go back to standard but you wont have any increased performance with it like that.
  12. #12
No harm could be caused, except loss of performance. Have a look around the forum there are much better ways of utilising silicone hosing for induction kits

erm the hose and filter coming from the kit

what the hell are you trying to breath off??
that hose would be for the rocker breather
like that itll just be trying to act liek a second filter and will do shit all but suck more hot air
i have seen worse attempts though tbh man so its not too bad

will make a lot of noise for you though
  14. #14
cheers guys, tbh it dont make that much more noise, only a little bit. yeah i'll invest in the enclosed kits soon i think.. the silicone hose diddnt come with it, i made that also the plugs i put on myself, i drilled the silicon to fit them. Its all air tight and no leaks ect. thanks for all the info though, much appreciated

where is that blue filter coming from, the green filter on the rocker is right but im confused at the blue one lol
  16. #16
the blue thing is just silicone hose matey!!

To answer any questions people may have an older type vtr engine (what we have here, im guesing R reg) Has 3 things to connect to the air intake.
    1. Air flow Meter
    2. ICV vacum pipe
    3. it also has a seperate vacum pipe going to the other side of the throttle bodie (im still unsure of what this achieves)

So some people may not be sure of what the blue filter is for but its for the third hose that comes on the early black top vtr's

I have an early blacktop VTR R reg.
and have the ICV vac pipe, and air flow welded in but no 3rd hose!

3rd hose comes from one of smaller diameter pipes on the left of the throttle bodie / inlet manifold. And runs under the throttle bodie to you original air system. Got a pic of your engine you can post up or pm me and ill point it out.

your spot on dude R reg... you know your stuff, maybe if i used a elbowed silicone hose and mounted the air filter at the front then it would be okay yes???

Just buy a raceland box without the green filter and put yours inside it
