VTS conversion

  1. #1
Ive got a VTR and i am thinking bout getting a VTS conversion. Are they worth the money? My car atm standard does 0-60 8 seconds dead and top of bout 130. I kno the VTS is meant to be a lot quicker but dont know what to do.

    Cheers

Never been done before mate. Youd be best off goin to scrap heap challenge or somthing not the kind of thing you can do at home.
  3. #3
i wouldnt do it myself. what you mean never been done before???

He's joking, VTS conversion is the most common engine conversion done. But its the same as everyother mod. In terms of value for money, no mod is ever worth it. Its just a case of wether you want to spend the money and can live with the results.

I'm not fibbin bout the time at all lol... why would i lie. And as for the top speed umm.... i guessed

What mods have you done to the engine or gearbox to improve the 0-60 time by 1.5 seconds?!?!?!?!?! And people lie because they want to make there car seem faster.

If your vtr is that fast its definatly a waste of money to get a vts because the top speed on a standard vts engine is slower than your claiming your vtr is and the 0-60 time is only .5 of a second quicker.

And if you are guessing about the top speed, your miles wrong. If your not guessing then you shouldnt be driving.

Depends what your gonna do in the future.

No point in wasting money on modding a VTR when you can start with a VTS.

If your going to leave them standard, then just keep the VTR for cheaper insurance and fuel consumption.

What have you done to manage a 0-60 time of 8 seconds? Timed it with a stopwatch? Or proper equipment?

I managed 8.6 with proper equipment, and mine's quicker than most VTRs.

i personally wouldnt doit mate i did a 106GTi conversion in mine same engine as the VTS i spent a shit load on it im pleased with the end result but when i think back on the money iv spent i wish i never bothered but if you can be arsed with any problem it will throw at you which i can garentee it will go for it

vts in a vtr... im sure search might help on this one
  13. #13
was thinkin on conversion to, but myt jus buy a vts instead n start fresh
  14. #14
vts engine swop is good modded if fitted right........
  15. #15
i'd just sell up and buy a vts. Saves alot of hassle in the long run. (and possibly money)
  16. #16
    Not worth it imo

Your car seems pretty fast as it is... might as well tweak the vtr a bit more rather than starting again with a vts.

    Up to you of course

vts lump is easily worth it. Or even better a JP4 engine. Why spend ages looking for a tidy non ragged vts, faff about selling your car, headache with the insurance swapping it over. Then you will always find niggles with a new car the old one didnt have etc so end up spending £££. Imo, better the devil you know. Get a new ish jp4 engine, a knacked vts one and spend a weekend building it up and dropping it in.. then you're onto a winner!

What is the JP4 engine? ... i seen people write about them but never really understood what it is?

Jp4 engines are the rescent vts engines, prodominantly found in C2 vts's.

However people have done some conversions and put them into saxo's.

They are exactly the same as J4 engines (saxo vts engine) except they have bigger valves and milder cams etc.

After reading a thread on the 106 forums, the Jp4 engines run better with the J4 cams and running gear, have a search.. im sure you can find them.

Hopefully it will clear things up.

    mines stock and i hit 0 - 60 in 8 DEAD , also got 130 on the way t the FCS 09 .. n its a W reg so i do believe thee
  23. #23
130 in a vtr ? i feel thats prob as bad as my westcoast saying im doing 122 although along side someone else it does?
  24. #24
Its probably right your 0-60 times and top speed i do similar in my VTR however i think this is because:

You don't have a full tank of petrol at the time
    Or a passenger
    You are quite light
    You may have decent tyres

And as for the top speed

I've had 130 on the clocks but it is just that-on the clocks, do it with a sat nav and i guarantee it would be more like 120ish

all of this top speeds are hopefully done on private roads!! lol otherwise your bad people!
  26. #26
Im not a bad person im a good person the difference being that a bad person is one that gets caught

vts conversion is a good idea IF you it yourself, mine didnt cost me very much at all after i sold my vtr engine.
