engine diagnosis light

I couldnt find any threads regarding this already, but the engine diagnosis light on my dash is on, havn't driven the car much lately, changed battery etc...

It's the little orange one to the right, like the outline shape of an engine, but the car's garanged, low mileage, good condition to my understanding, anyone got any bright ideas as to why it's suddenly come on?

in the book it says injection fault?

yeh, my thoughts too the one on the dash isn't identical to the engine diagnosis light in the handbook, but i was just putting one and one together as they look pretty similar.

It's only a 1.1, its also my first car, but from what i can feel from it, it drives as it should

sorry for my lack of knowledge, but it's what i'd class as normal.

might sound like daft advise but it does work!

as my light came on the other week and i just drove and next time i started it, it was fine and has (touch wood) since!!

Thanks for the ideas everyone. Went out today though and it seems to have gone off, after less than 10 seconds of having the engine running. I'll keep an eye on it for a few weeks, but it looks as if i've gotten away without having to fork out this time, touch wood

It's the single point injection unit, (or multi point on a vtr/vts) Quite expensive, you'l notice a little black box next to your throttle body, Common problem with my saxo, And let me tell you they aint cheap, for 1 of them trade you'l pay anywhere from £77 + vat upwards, They're not hard to fit all you need is a 2-3mm allan key, they're quite difficult to get into, there is about 5 bolts in all, and make sure you dont snap the wire from the Injector unit or you will be spending alot of pennies... but thats your problem, Or you can take it on an engine diagnostic computer and get the whole ECU rempapped for about £50. cheers.
