Important! : New car - problems - please help!

   Ok guys picked up my new car yesterday, its a real beauty, goes really well and was really impressed with the power
   
   its an s1 106 xsi with gti engine, rallye gearbox etc
   
   basically, drove the car home for a few hours everything was fine, got around 35 miles from home, came to a roundabout, went to select 2nd and lost ALL gears, could not select any gears at all.
   
   Pushed her off the road, and when the engine is off i can select gears ok, once engine is running i cant get any gears, also when i press the clutch all the way in, engine off, select 1st and start the car it jumps forwards, even though i have my foot all the way down on clutch,
   
   the car is a real gem and im over the moon with it i really am, can anyone suggest what this may be,
   
   have checked linkages and clutch cable with no joy, but havent had any time today!

   clutch? sounds like it might be a f**ked clutch my thrust bearing came loose and fired around the clutch housing destroying everything this meant lots of money to the friendly local garage

   gearbox will come out next weekend, have a barely used gti clutch anyway and me and a mate will be doing it ourselves, so no cost, just want to get it sorted as meant to be a daily drive for me!!

   sounds like the clutch has napped it andy.

   you think mate, hopfully it'll just be that, as i have another, a valeo gti clutch will fit an s1 box wont it?

   yep is a shame, temporarily insured it all week too, may try and do it tuesday night now i think

    yeah it should be fine using a gti clutch on it. every thing you said sounds as though the clutch has gone or atleast the hrust bearing has

    hoping its just the thrust then, as can still use disc and pressure plate then, clutch was done in september and not done many miles so dont think its burnt out, think its the plate or thrust too
