Getting rid of sunroof?

  1. #1
Quick one guys, apart from AndyK, has anyone successfully got rid of the sunroof on their Saxo? i.e. remove it and weld the hole etc

Anyone got pictures to hand if they have done?

not done it, but its a simple job really, not like the 205's lol

remove windscreen, remove boot and headlining etc, drill the spot welds, pull off, fit new one, spot weld, wind screen back in

Not quite what I had in mind, that seems a much bigger job than I'd anticipated. :-/

I was thinking about just removing the sunroof and lining and getting a plate welded in place then grinding down the welds, skim with filler and respaying.

u could do that, but may be floppy, and filler can crack.

I have had a non-sunroof skin fitted to mine.

Fair point, hadn't thought of that.

Will ask the guys at the garage what they think first then.

    I've been looking into this,
Most people advise against welding a sheet over the hole as the metal tends to bend from the heat.
Only feasible way seems to be pop-riveting/bonding an ally sheet over.

Remember you'll need a new roofliner too if you do this

so is the roof not a one peace panal down to the a b c pillers? how is it joined were the rails go? if itis not one peace seems straight forward

saxo 180, jodie & beeniemoo. All did it that way, drill the spot welds out a weld in a new non sunroof model. If your getting a garage to do it i would expect it to cost over £500. Think the new roof panel costs around £200 then the labour and painting
