#6I've had my saxo a fortnight and this was one of the two dozen or so faults I knowingly bought it with.
Check the connections either side of the window itself. These are usually tight but it's possible these might have been pulled off. You might be lucky! If this doesn't do it then it's probably the relay.
The relay does tend to burn out because most people don't realise that the HRW will come on and off with the ignition switch until you remember to switch it off.
Tell tale sign is the light on the heated rear window switch doens't come on when pressed. Note: there is an illumination lamp in the switch that comes on with the headlamps, this will still work when the relay is duff.
If the fuse is ok and correct rating then have a look at the relay. The positions of these do vary but it's usually directly above the fuses in the passenger compartment and to the left.
It's a 25A relay mine was a yellow Cartier item but they vary from manufacturer to manufacturer. (this is also the same relay as the electric windows if these were fitted at the factory). All the the ones in the scrapyard were the same type! Main thing is to check the new one matches the current rating and the pin diagram printed on the side of the one you remove.
With the ignition off. Pull this relay out. Mine was already missing (someone had already had a go and given up) and has scorch marks on the connector housing. No apparent damage to the wiring or connectors.
Replace with a new one - £8 or so from GSF. I got a couple from the scrappy.
You will notice that the switch should glow bright orange when HRW is on, dim orange when off but headlights are on and off altogether when lights and HRW off.
Good luck and I hope this helps. -
#7Just seen the previous post regarding the fault with the horn.
The horn probably shares the same fuse as the HRW in the engine bay fuse box (next to battery). This is your best bet. -
#8cheers mate sorted out the horn problem was a fuse but the rear de mister still dont work got a new switch and problem still occurs will get a new relay and see what happens thank you very much
