Important! : Heating's gone

   After sitting in the car in this weather with the heating on full, was only about 15/20mins the engine heat light on the dash came on (engine was runninng) so i turned everything off and opened the bonnet, the bit at the front where you fill with coolant was hissing and spitting out coolant (lid wasnt on properly) and an hour or so later when i went back to the car, they heating doesnt work and that light comes on after driving for like 10 mins
   
   Any ideas guys please?

   Sounds like you have an airlock. Flush the radiator and refill, and use a header tank so the water you put in in the radiator will be higher than the 3 bleed points so you won't get an airlock.

   let me know how you get on with this coz i get the same thing, after 10 mins of driving the light comes on, but car seems to run fine so i just ignore it, then it will go off for a little while then it will come back on again, could mine be the same problem?

   no bother mate, a guy a know is comming to have a look at it first thing tomowrrow.
   So ill post back when its sorted.

   That was the problem mate, the temp light does not come on now and the heating is back.
   
   Just needed the thermostat and rad bled and topped up with coolant

   im planning on bleeding my rad tomorrow, but i don't know where the plugs are, and also what is meant by using a header tank,

   my fan seems to be continously running as well could this be a sensor problem?

   the plugs to drain the rad are the top right and bottom right of the rad as you look at it, the easiest way is to use some pliers to open them up
