Harnessess

I was thinkin about some harnessess for my saxo in the near future if i can get it sorted. Question i have is (as i know very little about harnessess):

If i fit harnessess do i have to anchor them down in the back of the car?? I.e Lose use of my back seats because of this? If so any way around this as i want use of the back seats.

    Chears guys, Tabz.

You can mount them onto the current rear seat belt bolts,

you can keep the back seats this way, although they'll be un-useable

think you could get away with it becouse they bolt onto were the top of the seatbelt is on the piller, wont be the best for sombody sitting in the back tho

Cheers ash, bit of a bitch tbh. So to summarise, harnessess will go in but back seats will be unusable due to the harness anchor straps cutting across back seats?

yeah it's pretty impossible for someone to sit there with two harness straps underneath them lol.

You coulnt mount them on the C pillar, but it's not safe apparently if you crash and it crumples it'll pull the harnesses tight on you as theres no 'give' in their movement like a normal seatbelt.

Ye, needs to be MOT-able so cant see that working. Think ill have to stick with seat belts. I have raceland leathertte recliners in the front, im sure i can fit seat belt fasterners to the racelands using a longer bolt in the bottom left hand corner of the seat(where it normally sits) but ive looked at the original saxo one and it wont go as its on a mechanism. Any idea where i can get one? i.e- From another car at a scrappy?

I know its a confusing question but basically i need a seat belt fasterner that is simply able to be bolted on to the seat.

you can get a system that lets you unclip the rear part of the harness so allowing acces to the rear, you just keep the standard front seatbelts fitted and use as normal when carrying passangers.

You have to use BS marked belts if you wish to pass a MOT with them. Most race belts are not and will fail a MOT. So a lot of people just still have there stock belts in too. The big thing about harnesses is there not safe if not fitted right. Most people do not fit them right and can end up a real danger in a crash. If you do fit them to be safe fit as per the MSA or FIA regs. The general need is for a role cage mount or a race seat with hardened belt mount and hacking. The stock seats and not meant to take load from a belt like race seats are.

I had my bucket/harnesses with my rear seats still in for a while, out now though lol

Personally i wouldnt fit harnesses unless i had decent fixed buckets & a proper cage.

    Common sense will explain why

It depends what harnesses you go for...
I have 3point harnesses and can get 2 people in the back easily.
    4pointers would be tricky though.

Cheers for the advice guys, im going to stick with regular seatbelts and just pick up some seatbelt fasteners from a breaking saxo to attach to my front seats.

    Again, cheers guys!!!
