Hi all, driving down the road today approching a traffic light bout 20 mph as i shifted into 2nd, the engine cut out and stalled, i only had the cambelt replaced 2 days ago so i knew what it was, i just about heard the noise over the music it sounded like a sea gull was fluttering around in the engine bay, does anyone know how messed up the engine will be? Its going into a mates garage which is a citreon specialists today, hopefully not too heafty on the £££'s.
Important! : Cambelt's just gone...

-
#6maybe i just think about getting it running first, its going to cost a bomb anyway, just hope that not too much is damaged..

-
#9lol, not really I dont think.
Just drop another engine in - getting one is pretty cheap and fitting isnt too bad -
#10Yea i was looking on ebay, going fone the garage at 4:30 will post up what they say...
-
#11definitely get a cam
-
#12Id be gutted if i were you, if a garage fitted it.. they would be paying.
If a mate fitted it, he'd be paying.
If id fucked up.. id be paying.
either way, valves are going to be bent. -
#13went down the garage to inpsect the damage one of the screws on the side of the block which was holding the tensioner on had sheered off, garage are going to drop the engine out and let me know whats damaged.
-
#14similar thing happend to me a few weeks back, some how 4.5 teeth were missing from my belt, down into 2nd from 3rd at about 20mph ish, eratic fast clicking noise, car starting on 2 cylinders.
i was lucky as fook tho, bent all of the exhaust valves, inlets were fine. pistons were ok as well.
a mate had a spare head for me to rob the valves out of.
new head gasket, head bolts and a few other bits n bobs and she is back good as gold lol.
nightmare when it happens. -
#16HI all just heard back from the garage, all 16 valves are damaged, all exhausts valves are damaged, valave seats are damaged, injectors might be damaged. Been sent to bridgewater for pressure testing, will keep you posted...
-
#17I was only doing 20 MPH... lol.

#18injectors ?!Quote:HI all just heard back from the garage, all 16 valves are damaged, all exhausts valves are damaged, valave seats are damaged, injectors might be damaged. Been sent to bridgewater for pressure testing, will keep you posted...
Cheaper to buy a second hand head than repair it tbh. A full set of new valves plus sorting out the valve guides will be more expensive than a prefectly fine second hand 16v head -
#19Hi all got the car back today, brand new injectors, all 16valves replaced, new guides, and the head has be polished out, how much ...... £1100, ouch!!!
-
#22Basically i would just use this as guide. Get your cambelts done!!! LOL
