    Hi guys,

Just bought this manifold on ebay, it came off a 106gti.

Does anyone know what kind it is as the seller doesnt know, he does know that it is stainless steel and has a place for the lambda.

    Cheers,

    yeh, looks like raceland

See the bends?! It is definity one, I own a raceland myself

Thanks for the pic mate, definately a raceland I got!!

Just to make sure that I am correct - this will fit straight onto a mk2 vts with a full magnex system including magnex decat without any modifications???

Straight fit mate. Some people prefer to cut down two of the studs (bottom row, second ones in from the left and right IIRC) to make fitting easier.

I got mine to fit without cutting them though - best way is to only slide the manifold part way on (to start with), get all the nuts onto the studs then slowly start moving it towards the head, tighten the nuts as you go.

    should fit your car fine

Thanks guys, I cant wait to get it fitted! Do you reckon I will be able to notice the performance gains that are expected from a manifold or will it not be too noticeable???

I noticed very little gain tbh. Just seems to pull a bit cleaner through the revs and you don't get that 'kick' at 4k revs-ish.

Completely changed the sound of my exhaust though, went from a sporty tone to pure rasp.

Hopefully it will at least sound a bit better!!

    Thanks for the help bud.

    Hi LeeumH

I felt exactly the same! But I sometimes wonder if the car pulls better with the standard manifold as the kick was an add or if the torque below the 4k is that much higher as before, and thats the reason for that less strong kickin.

Could be onto something there Robert.

I'm not too fussed as the car doesn't seem any slower, it looks better, and weighs a massive amount less than the standard cast iron manifold.

    Yeah I hope so^^

thats true the weight of the standard is immense.

Surely a 4 branch manifold cant make the car slower?? After all, the car will be breathing a lot better than what it was as standard, and now weighs ever so slightly less due to the raceland manifold being lighter than the cast iron standard manifold??

ull probally notice it pulling smooother through the revs, it wont make it slower at all..

The Raceland is excellent value for money - I'm sure Sandy found its flow was ample for cars up to 180bhp?
  22. #22
Yeh I read that they are dyno tested up to 170bhp iirc
