water coming in under carpet?

   someone just got into my car and said that it stinks ,
   
   he said that it is water under the carpet and that it was the same smell that was in his m8's car and that was his problem.
   
   all the carpets are dry,
   could he be right and if so how can i sort it out.
   
   i have looked all under the car and cant find any way it could be getting in.
   
   any ideas

   I had a problem on my previous saxo and it was water comin from the heating system, i.e leaking thru heater matrix and comin thru the air vents for your feet. It stinks really badly, so may be that your heater matrix is about to go or you have a problem with your radiator maybe. I would keep watchin your needle which shows you the heat of your engine.
   
   It may not be that, just i had that issue and my heater matrix went on me.

   definitely sounds as if it is your heater matrix mate, big job..

   if its not any of the above mine leaks from the bonnet somewhere down the A pillar and soaks into the carpet

   none of the carpets are wet ?
   
   if its the heater matrixs, apart from the smell? and the needle, what are other signs.

   could it be the CD player or electrics shorting out?
   can you describe the smell?

   well i cant describe it cos i cant smell it lol, it was my b/f that said, i get him describe it to me lol, and let you what he said,
   
   the door speaker problem was a bad earth, so its not that,
   
   i wired the ICE up myself its fine, but i'll bet my elecy m8 recheck it jst incase.

   youve probably got a leak somewhere and the smell is just damp

    seriously has the arch liner on that side been removed if so water can be sprayed up by tyre inbetween door and body if that makes sense

    my fella said it smells like damp,
    but surely if ive got a leak i owuld be able well where its wet, and if its under the carpet i would feel the water bubble,
    
    personally i think his nose is too close to his ass.

    The best thing to do is to check all of your seals around your boot doors and around the glass.
    
    My seal was not on properley around the boot and it caused a lot of water to get in and caused a pudle in the passanger foot well lol

    Damn it! i was going to say that Yea make shure the seals are on correctly and all in good condition
