    a my text check

how many owners on an 01 plate i'd expect no more than 5

    hope this helps mate.

also check the wheel nuts i have had my saxo vts for about a month and a half and the wheel nuts are all fucked and looks to be expensive

Exactly right. Tell him to MOT it for you and give him the money if it pases and dont buy it if it fails (enless the repair work is minor). Secondly as already said, do a my text check.

Take the car for a spin; get it up to 5th gear (try the reverse gear also) take it round some corners at a reasonable pase and listen for any unusual knocking or clicking while turning. When you return from the test drive, leave the ignition on and make sure that the temperature gage on the dash stays at about half way and that the fan comes on if it slips just over.

Finally simple things like, check tires, brakes, bodywork (rust etc), spare wheel?, service history blah blah lol. Just dont buy a dog

If you can then take a mechanic round to have a look at the car or have an AA inspection done.

its best to get someone who really knows their stuff inside out. about MOTs, its a bit of a grey area, its very easy to "make up". A failed car pass its MOT provided you have the right ahem..
