Wont Fire Grrrr!!

Basicaly fitted new coilpack, fuel filter, changing plugs tomorrow.

All basic checks have been done like checking for plugged sensors ect.

But just will not fire! it turns over, some times it sort off gives a little fire but not anuf to fire it up!

Any help please!!!?

Not a new engine, was fine about 3 days ago, seems to be getting fuel, can smell it so pursuming it is getting fuel, hoping it is the crack sensor, which ill be checking tomorrow but we shall see..

oh i have crank sensor brand new boxed wanna buy it cheap of course due to that dodgy postman ! what did you do to the car before it stopped running or did it just die one day??

Well i took my rocker covers off and was checking the plugs as i didnt know when they had been changed befor, and when i took the coil off it slipped out my hands and landed plug side and cracked the plug on it, thats why i brought the one from you. thats all i have done, i done the clutch today. thats it tbh..

if you have just had the box out to do the clutch i'd lay odds on it being the crank sensor

How can i check the crank sensor?

so weird, its getting fuel to injectors, it has spark from plugs, but not starting,

how can i test the crank sensor? and is it the one on the front off the gearbox manifold side?

ive taken that off and its just look like a plastic cap, cleaned it but still the same..

Changed coil pack, now crank sensor and still the same.. car is actaly doing my fucking head in. piss off shit! stick to 8v's boys these 16vs are piss's off crap.

had 4 vtrs and not a proper problem apart from a snapped wire on the coil pack, but i just soildered it back on and it started 1st time.. car been off the road 2 weeks, and is completely f*ucked..

Any one wanna swap mine for a vtr? its gay as ive brought newman ph3s for it now :@

any ideas now?

have you took the fuel pipe off and turned it over to check the flow? pump it into to a bottle to check if its coming out wen you crank and not just priming

yepo! take both pipes off fuel rail.. and the 1st is pumping bit off petrol..

how long is the fuel pump ment to prime for? when i turn ignition on it seems to prime for around a 30 to a min..

yer it should prime then when u crank a steady flow should come out if not ur cars not fuelling i would look at the cut off switch

it is fueling thats the fhing.. compression is perfect on all cyinders..

its got a pretty good spark on all plugs..

its getting fuel!!

but not firering!

my vtr did this exact same ting, was reking my head 4 ages and turned out to b water in the fuel filter, have u tried replacing it???

its a strange one mate but i would check all the earths aswell if the box has been out

Thats my plan for tomorrow, willing to try anything now tbh.. the petrol i got from the fuel rail is rather stinky, so makes me think there isnt any water in it tbh.. but will be seeing

just taken off the fuel cut off and check for any faults.. and is all good tbh, the lead doesnt clip which is a bit dodgy and they plug wasnt on it much when i took it of..but ive taken it off held it on then taped it to make sure its on propely but still no luck

already had all the earths off smoothed them off and grinded them down to bare metal again..

my VTR primes for about 3 seconds..

Yeah im sure my old vtrs never primed for 30 secs..

if shouldnt need to prime for than long if there is fuel in the lines surly?

yer i agree priming for that long dnt sound right i have u tried tapping the top of the pump while cranking thats what i did to get my vtr to start when the pump was faulty? worth a shot

gievn up tapping now mate, im using a club hammer. fuck this, cba with the car now. im putting it on ebay tonite and going to get a car on finance.

woahhhh! step away from the keyboard mate.
its probably just your fuel pump/wiring to fuel pump.. this is given away by how long it is taking to prime the system..its a weekends work and certainly not worth selling up over mate
