took my car out yesterday and went over a pot hole, the car cut out, so i pressed the inertia switch and it started up fine, went to my mates house and i was trying to explain what had just happened so while the car was running i tapped the inertia switch with a screw driver and the car cut out, went to start it and it isnt running properly, sounds like it isnt firing on all the cylinders, bearing in mind that it was about 5 mins after i had reset it, i dont know about anyone else but it seems extremly sensitive, and looks like it fuckin the ecu up when it resets the engine, dont know about anyone else but its really starting to piss me off

ffs

#2if you mean the fuel cut off switch they are sensative just try re setting it again
-
#3yeah ive pressed it 3 times in a 5 min interval, still the same, sounds like its not firing on all the cylinders, i think either the cut off switch or the ecu is fucked tbh, cheers for the reply

#4try disconnecting the battery i think that resets the ecu
-
#5ok cheers matey, ill let ya know if it solves it

#6Check the earths all round the engine bay you might have knocked them when you went over the pot hole.

#7WHen my mate had my car before i bought it this happened. He had to press and hold a red button in the bay for like 3 secs shake the car then do it again a couple of times then it started. Mite be similar.

#8yeah, i fixed it again yesterday morning, i just kept resetting the switch and firing her up, and giving it the switch the odd tap with a screwdriver handle, on the 5th time she fired up fine, healthy as anything, this is really baffling me, think she has got a bad case of gremlins

#9glad you got it sorted matey

#10or a bad connection/broke inetria switch !?Quote:yeah, i fixed it again yesterday morning, i just kept resetting the switch and firing her up, and giving it the switch the odd tap with a screwdriver handle, on the 5th time she fired up fine, healthy as anything, this is really baffling me, think she has got a bad case of gremlins

#11yeah im just about to go on ebay now nd see how much the inertia switches are, if there stupidly expensive then scrappy it is, doubt they will be tbh, and if its still playing up then at least thats narrowed it down a tad and the mystery continues lol ....

#12think what i am going to do is buy a new one and relocate the switch somewhere else in the engine bay so the impact isnt so intense on it because the bracket is above the suspension turret and thats why its so bloody sensitive, I WILL sort this . . .
