my boot sometimes takes a good few slams to close up properly,
is this just down to the catch being worn out?

I have exactly the same problem, you shut it and it just doesnt catch.

Im just thinking if it is just a case of adjusting the place the catch is sitting, like moving it forward or back slightly, im just to lazy to try lol.

had the same problem, have you tried screwing in the rubber boot stoppers

had the same problem got myself a latch from a scrappy and now its fine again, just make sure your seal is tight if you play with it cause mine was letting in loads of water till i fixed it

Loosen one of the bolts on the catch and spray loads of wd40 inside the catch. Sorted mine.
