Misfiring problem!!!!!

  1. #1
Yesterday my car was misfiring like mad, started off doing it occasionally and after about 1-2 hours of driving i couldnt even reach 50mph, the battery light would flicker when i got speed up.

Changed the spark plugs and it was fine.....drove about 20 miles and it was absolutely fine then it started misfiring again.

Ive worked out that if i put my foot down then it misfires between 2000 and 3000 revs then over 3000 it stops.

if i dont put my foot down and just gently accelerate through the gears then it wont misfire between 2000 and 3000 revs, its only when i put my foot down.

    what would it be??

    help asap please!

thats interesting cos i know my lambdas fucked as i do about 100 miles on £20. so maybe its that. it is bogging down through the gears and sounds like its really raspy and struggles to get speed up.

sounds abit like what im getting atm just boggs down then power comes back iv had sparks changed will be getting a fuel filter change and might get the lamda sensor changed to as my fue economy seems to be quite bad. also only really does it if my foots down and im trying to get good eceleration if i just go slowly it doesnt do it

    It could be your injectors

Try coil pack, MAP sensor, crank sensor.

Yes but if one is gone it can cause a misfire

well also my oil breather pipe is a bit dodgy and im not sure if its actually breathing. so could be that!?
ive got an induction kit so may clean it and see if that helps

and yeah my lambda is defo screwed so im gunna change that and see if that solves it

Get your alternator checked for free at Halfords it sounds to me like its not putting out the correct voltage all the time which is making your car bog down.

ooooh could be.....my battery light doesnt flicker now when it bogs down, but yesterday it was misfiring really badly and just had no power at all through all the revs and the battery light would flicker when the revs got high.

Its not injectors or anything serious its your coil pack thats worn and isnt firing correctly i had the exact same problem with my VTR. What you wanna do is get some fresh spark plugs costing about £10 and a new COIL PACK go to a well known local garage or online and get a BRAND NEW one costing roughly between £60-£90 but will have to wait for delivery if you dont wanna wait then head to nearest CITROEN/PEUGEOT dealer and there will be 90% there is one in stock. BUT will have to pay a wacking price inc CAT of around £110-£120ish hope this helps btw i also said the PUG garage because the coil packs for saxos are same as 106's

V.A.T not CAT lol dont let cat confuse you lol this is nothing to do with your exhaust

There could really be a lot of reasons for the misfiring. I had the same problem brought my air filters and alternators to a nearby auto shop. Aside from the clogged air filter I had my alternator cut out causing the car not powering up or slowing down. There are also noises produced and the battery won't charge.

I had this problem so brought a new map sensor and cleaned my idle control valve (it idled funny too) and it was fine
