i have a mark one vtr and i was driving on the motorway doing about 70mph and my car sort of stuttered twice and then the engine management light came on could anyone shed some light on the situation ?

sounds like a lambda sensor to me...

if the engine light comes on - its emissions related (read drivers manual) only real emissions related thing could be lambda sensor.. happened to my mk2 when i first bought it.

Only way to find out is plus a diagnostic machine in but can cost you ££

my engine light came on when one of my injectors failed,on me mk2 vts........

cheers wats the best way to diagnose if it is the lambda jus change it is it because ive had the car a matter of days any think it cus be anything major ?

i get this problem sometimes, iv been told mine is down to the coilpack as it sometimes doesnt fire up on all pistons.

yeah apparently the coilpacks are quite fragile and well known for playin up on saxos
