lb rating of springs?

  1. #1
could someone explain what the lb rating of springs means please?

Ive seen people mentioning 115 lb to 300 lb springs?

Which would be stiffer and which would be good for road use, normal running around with a bit of country road driving, theres alot of speed bumps in the town that I live in so not sure if that would make a difference.

    any recommendations for springs?

    higher numbers mean stiffer springs.

There is also the length of the spring to consider also when choosing them and also what damper will be run with the spring.

How much comfort do you value?

Im planning on running standard dampers.

Ummm..not that much really but Im due to have my first baby in May and for his/her sake I wouldnt want them to affect the comfort that much really.

On a side note, do you offer a forum discount for kamracing as Im looking to purchase an exhaust system soon?

    Cheers

Technically its the amount of weight needed to compress the spring 1 inch

so like Kam said , higher the number stiffer the springs

The quality of the ride will be very much effected by how good the spring is

if running standard dampers and you don't want the ride to be effected too much then I would run something like the Eibach prokit.

how good are they in terms of improving the handling though?

could you tell me which ones would be better for handling if not so fussed about comfort incase I decide to go for that route?

    Thanks

You can still have good handling with soft springs.
The dampers are what control most of the transitional role.

    OK, thanks mate.

Something puts me off the Eibachs though, what about Apex or PI springs, thats the ones I was leaning towards?
