#3as previously said they are E marked but i wouldn't trust it because really you dont want blue lights anywhere near your car when you are driving iv seen way to many traffic cops for you wanting blue lights anywhere near your car
-
#4if they shine blue light there def not legal
-
#5as the first person say if e marked then fine but am not sure does anybody defiently know
-
#6have searched little but cant find anything but am sure are legal conformation needed
-
#7No they're not, copper pulled a lad a college for it. Car was towed, and a nice hefty fine.
-
#8yeap any sort of blue light on car, and a arsey copper will get u hassle. a few coppers i spoke to some say theres no clear law about them and its down to individual to make decision say if u weren;t driving like a tit or being mouthy maybe you;d get warning, on otherhand get a copper whos having bad day and he'll try do u for impersenating a police car.
just stick with white lights that way they got no reason to bother u -
#9Does not really work like that. There are many fake, counterfeit or just extremely misleading advertised items out there with fake markings. I do not know enough about the bulbs in the Ebay sale to comment. But as people have said blue side lights are illegal.
-
#10You won't pass an MOT with them on and that answers your question really.
I do use blue sidelights however, its just up to you whether you want to run the risk of getting pulled or not. Just hope you dont run into a copper whos having a really bad day. (luckily though they only really get spotted by traffic moving the other way, which means PC Plod would have to turn round to pull you, and they usually cba as long as you arn't driving like a twat or blasting out da tunez).
I should also point out I have a xenon headlight conversion which obscures nearly all the blue light with the headlights on, so they arnt that easy to spot.
Keep hold of the yellow ones for MOT time

#11Any blue exterior light is illegal and deemed as impersonating police so you'll get done for it if you get caught.

#12standard ones look better anyway imo ..

you can have any colour you want on your car as long as its a sold state!, i.e neons flashing and such!
aslong as the source of the light isnt visable!
its the flashing and seeing the strip, that is the illegal part! because you can see that on an emergancy vehicle! -
#15Not true. There are restriction as to what colour you can show on what part of the car. Also set lights have to be set colours. eg you can not show red at the front of the car even if its just led washer jets. Also colours such as blue and green are reserved for specific emergency vehicles. So any use of these on a car can be argued as illegal.Quote:wrong.

#16you could wrap your car in red fairy lights, and they could light up the street whilst your braking.
its not illegal! -
#17They are a grey area of the law. Even though they may be e marked the law says the veichle should have white lights at the front and red at the back. As long as they are a blue tint you should be fine but def no blue led style are not leagal.
-
#18there is a DVLA published online document somewhere that says both red and blue are illegal. Its not a grey area, they are illegal full stop.

#19i had a 2000 vectra SRi few months back b4 i got our vtr. i used to use 100Watt blue bulbs as high, dip n sidelight. it sed on the add i got um from off road use only but i was never once bothered by anyone. not even a mention despite bein pulled over several times by the coppers.

#20I had these on my sax about a week and they blew, utter tat. They shine a light blue colour so theyre illegal
-
#21Kinda on topic.
I bought ultra white headlights. When they are off, the bulbs look a blue colour, but then are white when they are on.
Would I get pulled for the blue bulbs? -
#23I can tell you the exact law you would be braking if there all over your car. Part 2 section 11 subsection 1 of the Road Vehicle Lighting Regulations. It is an offence to have fitted a lamp of any desorption that is capable of showing red light to the front of the vehicle (except in certain prescribed circumstances). It's actually against the law to have them fitted to a road car even if there not turned on.
