New parts or a vtr/s engine?

  1. #1
I have a 1.1 which is in pristine condition so I don't really want to change car at the moment but the engine is in a right mess! I was wondering what would be better, buy new parts and restore the 1.1 engine, not sure of the cost, or buy either a vtr/s engine. I've heard this is illegal though and would any other parts of the car need changing to put a 1.6 engine in?

    Thanks for any help

depends what you want from it....

The performance aspect would be a big factor but I also want the car engine itself to be in very good condition. I have a budget of around £500 and i'm not very clued up about engines, leaning towards the vts conversion!

performance vts would be the way to go, dependin on how brave you are you would have to tell insurance

Well I'll have 2 years no claims in june (fingers crossed!) so it shouldn't hammer me too hard hopefully! Not sure of how much it will cost though

ive never done it before to know how much it all comes to, loads of people on here have done engine swaps so will be more clued up, but for performance mite as well get the biggest best one.... lol

Thing is you'll also need to upgrade the brakes and suspension too if you're going to put a VTS lump in your 1.1.

Best bet would be to chip around in your 1.1 and save some cash and buy a pristine VTS when you can afford it.
